After what seems like forever, I'm finally back from China... How is everyone? I really missed you guys. Sorry I didn't manage to get on the net much as the dumb hotels charged for the net. So I happily stayed in my room watching SMAP programs on my laptop.
I've just been catching up on my reading & I realised that there are a lot of repeat threads. That means, some of us have started new topics without realising that there are already similar topics started by other members previously. We have about 10 threads just announcing DVDs/VCDs & Pamplets!!!
Just a gentle reminder to all: You're most welcomed to start a new & brilliant topic. Any SMAP related is brilliant to me  ! But before you do, Run thru the thread/topic titles before you start a new one.
The reason for this is so that our board stays neat & user friendly. We can easily locate the topics we want to post in or get information of what we want without the headache of searching.
For example:
- Want to announce that SMAP is featured in a new mag: Under New Releases - New Mag topic
- Want to announce latest news, find out info, scream about concerts: Under Smap Concerts - choose by concert
- Want to let us know where we can download any clips or rave about a clip you just watched: New Releases - Video Clip Sightings topic

how did you apply?? if you applied through internet or through the post office...than it takes longer, because they have to send the modem to you, check your name and address and all.
but if you just go directly to thoe store (office??) and apply, they will hand you the modem and cd that day (at least for mine they did)

hey jpdrama, where are you located? what are you doing actually? studying? uni?
i signed up for my internet at sakuraya and like remii said, i had to wait like 3 weeks for the modem to arrive and then they told me they would have a ???(construction???) date a week after the modem came.
so when i happily waited for them to do whatever ?? they wanted, the guy came and left in 5 minutes. all he did was to look at my phone plug and make a call on his handphone, then he `otsukare`ed me and left! i had to wait for a MONTH for THAT?!?!?!?! 
and THEN i had to wait one day to be able to start using it. how dumb is this system.
does this only happen in tokyo!?!??!

hello...I am now in gunma ken(about one and half hrs` train ride from ueno) thru a study abroad program organised by my uni.will be here for a year.I am still in the mid of applying for a telephone line.One of my friends helped me to call NTT and apply for a telephone line.The person said that I would receive a letter of confirmation or something like that,after I fax them a copy of my alien card...and it`s been weeks since I faxed it to them,but I still have not received the letter yet...

BTW, this is not a rule of Freebird but more like the understood culture of the members. We reserve colours and Bold, Italics, underline or BIG fonts to things we want to announce or are important... Not every single post in your fave colour or BIG BOLF FONTS so you can be different from others!
I HATE getting a rude shock when I see a whole block of coloured words or some BIG BOLD RED words thinking it's some big smap news and it's not!!

Hi minna. I've been feeing this for a while... I hope that it's not a problem but I think it's getting bad.
Recently, we've got a lot of new members joining Freebird Board and I am very happy that there are so many of you. SMAP has made me many good friends and I am so grateful for that.
However, if you just scroll the latest few pages of the members page, almost 97% are all members with ZERO posts! This is a discussion board. When P-chan started this board, for years we never faced this problem.
Like what our Welcome message says: "A smap messageboard, for smap fans, to talk about smap, learn about smap, love smap. Eat...breathe...live...smap." That was our aim and we've never changed it since we started. We wanted this boad to be a place where we can all come together to "SHARE" our thoughts and love for the boys....
But sadly, I feel that now it's not the case. In some ways, Freebird board has lost that culture and has become simply a free & easy, information providing place.
I am very grateful for those that do share their thoughts & feelings, information, pictures, clips, etc... Even if it's once in a while. I know everyone is busy with your own personal life. You guys are what makes me log onto the board once I wake up in the morning and everytime I turn on the computer. I never found it a hassle to updating info, scan pics, etc. I enjoy doing it for the love of SMAP. Everytime I find out something, the first thing I want to do is to post it here so that minna can know about it. I suppose that those of you that do it also share the same feelings. I totally understand that not everyone can contribute information but definitely all can contribute discussions & thoughts... desho?
Aimoo has came up with a function that only selected members can view certain threads. If this problem continues, I feel like trying this function out. If I do decide to do that, it'll mean only those members that contribute discussions (pls read carefully - it's discussions not anything else) can view threads where we upload pictures, clips, concert stuff or other 'more important' info, etc. I shall see how it goes.... I really don't want to do that. It goes against what & why we have this board but I can't help feeling like some of the members here are being taken for granted.

Hi Minna... Sorry for my absence the past few days... I've been down with gastric flu and was crawling from my bed to the toilet the last 3 days!! It was awful but I'm much better now.
For those members that have nothing to do with this matter, I am sorry for this terribly angry post.

Now about this stupid issue again... I've discussed this matter with P-chan already. We're going to monitor this situation for the next 1 week or so then we'll decide on the outcome. We both agree on doing the "selected members" only threads although it means extra work for us. If we have to.
The last few days, I've been doing some checks of my own. This is the situation. There are some of our Freebird members who also have their own boards. They announce that Freebird has these news, pics or whatever and their members will come here to see those stuff. However (and this is the part that shocks and angers me the most) they do not post their comments on Freebird. They only come in the view and read, then return to their own board to discuss. Like excuse me!!! BIKKURISHITA!!! 
Just to let minna know: That Freebird as well as Channel SMAP are both PAID BOARDS! AIMOO IS NOT FREE!! We pay the most expensive membership so that all of us can enjoy all the facilities aimoo offers. Without advertisements, with Japanese language functions, with picture uploading functions just to mention a few. And there is also limited page views per 'term' that we pay. Each time the page views are exceeded we have to pay again. I am not going to allow myself to be paying for page views to let other people take advantage of the information provided on Freebird then running back to their own boards to squeal their delight!
If you are a member here, we welcome you with open arms. You can view the same page 10 times a day and talk about the same gorgeous picture again and again, I don't care! I'm only too happy that Freebird as a whole, can make your day with just a little picture or news.  If you have anything to ask, any praises to sing of SMAP, and criticisms to make of SMAP, anything you're feeling or thinking, we're happy to hear them out.
But I DO MIND if you just register, JUST FOR THE SAKE of getting information and seeing pictures or whatever! Then full-stop. No thoughts, no comments to share, best part is... Some of you have even NO POST!!! Though I DO NOT encourage posts like "Oh he's so cute thank you so-and-so for the scan" At least of the least that's some sort of courtesy & politeness!!
Think about it seriously. Is it fair to us? Should we be angry? Why should we be paying for your selfish usage?
Till today, Freebird has no hard B&W rules. But I think now we should. If you guys frequent at other boards. Most generally have rules and the moderators are strict. Once you so call break the rules, you're well... banned. I don't like that idea and again, it is not what I want to do.
I am saddened that after these years, we have to resort tho these horrible actions  . Our aim was to share the love of SMAP, to promote SMAP... not restrict it to selective membership!!!

i dont want to type a long message. so i'm going straight to the point, even if it sounds rude.
i have LOADS of NON-POSTING drifters on this board. LOADS. if you look at the member's list, there are tons of people with zero posts.
i pay good money for this board. and it doesnt come cheap. with each page view, i have to pay for that.
and yet, people come in from other boards, read the news here, see the pictures, download the clips.
and dont post.
oh yeah, some of you post, things like 'OH I REALLY WISH SOME KIND SOUL WILL UPLOAD THIS CLIP' or 'OH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THOSE PICTURES.
there is a difference between 1) posting the above + good comments, and 2) posting ONLY the above.
i don't need type 2 people on this board. type 2 people who come here request for things, download, dont comment, then go rant and rave on some other board and ask more type 2 people to join freebird. i'm not going to feed you with pictures and downloads if you dont give your thoughts and comments about it. i think i'm quite a generous person but i'm not THAT generous.
so here's the deal. within the next month, if this continues, either i'm banning all the zero posts people, or all pictures and clips for download will go into a password-secure post where only chosen people will have access. shin-chan has already made this warning previously and obviously the situation is not improving. so if this continues, then although i hate to do so, i will start deleting members.

Ahhh... P-chan, thank you... I'm so glad you've finally spoken... After reading P-chan's post, I have finally sat myself down to create the new Download page for authorised members. As for this new DL page, I don't think we need to wait and see any longer... It's supposed to have been done just that I was super busy...
I was thinking we can make most of our categories like this too... only for authorised members to read & post... Then we don't have to ban anyone... Anyways, we'll see how... Whichever is less work for us... It is a very tedious job....
Good luck to all you non-posting drifters and "Type 2" posters.... I'm glad P-chan is not so much a softie like me....

i have deleted about 70 members today who have had zero post for a month or more. they are just deleted from the forum, but if they come back and this problem starts again, i will ban that IP address.

Sorry you have trouble like this esp as this is a great board with great interaction between people. Another thing I guess I didnt fully comprehend (duh!) is that you have to pay for the upkeep so I can understand your frustration. Im sure I speak for many members when I say thankyou for all your hardwork. I wish I had the ability/knowhow to add more to this board like posting mag scans and clips esp as Im lucky enough to live in Japan! It DOES make me feel bad i should ask my hubby to teach me this stuff!!

Hi everyone,
I am neither new to the board nor a regular post-er so I think I may be one of those 'drifters' Shin-chan mentioned. I read about P-chan's post and would just like to say something. It is my sincere wish that this will not offend anyone.
I cannot remember how long I have been visiting Freebird, but it has become a regular habit for me to log on almost every night after work and drop by for a visit. Eventually I registered and posted only 4-5 messages, mostly just to introduce myself. One other time, I wanted to share the shows I collected on Kimura-kun but I am embarassed to say that I have not gotten down to that because I do not know how to post them up for downloading.
I envy the Freebird community for being a close knitted and well-equipped one. You have members in Japan and all over Asia (even the US and Europe!) who are well informed of the updates of our favourite group. From the many posts I read, I could tell that the active members have known each other for a long long time and have been following the growing up of the boys all through these years. It seems difficult for a 'new' person like me to fit in, especially one who has little to offer except his/her (mostly likely a 'her' ne  ) love for SMAP. It even feels like 'intruding' to post in a trend of active discussion among board members who have known each other for a long time.
Because it is hardly cheap to upkeep the space to house this excellent forum, I can fully understand the difficulty the administrators face in keeping so many members. It may be hard to fathom for some, but I for one, would understand and be supportive if a nominal membership fee needs to be charged, just to share out the cost. Otherwise, it seems only reasonable to retain active members who post frequently to share worthwhile information on our dearest SMAP.
I cannot speak for the others, but I think there are fans out there like me who cannot contribute much because of our limited capability. I hardly understand Japanese so there is a limit to what I understand from magazines and downloaded radio and TV clips. Freebird gave me an opportunity to read news and updates on SMAP and my ichiban, Kimura Takuya (which is really hard to come by in a Korean drama/pop-prevalent Singapore!). I read with admiration the members' pursuit of Kimura-kun in KL, and the many concert experiences. Many times the views I have from reading the posts seems unworthy for posting; they are usually just feelings of gratitude to the generous members for putting up a clip or magazine scan, admiration for the Freebird member's encounter with SMAP; appreciation of the sheer gorgeousness of our beloved boys. Maybe this is not the passion or conduct worthy of a true SMAP fan and Freebird member. If so, I sincerely apologise and would leave it to the administrators' good hands whether to keep or delete my membership.
For what it is worth, I am appreciative Freebird for opening my eyes to what I think is the best group in Japanese entertainment. Because of you, I am more in love and in awe of SMAP. Thank you, Freebird!

I am very much a newbie, only known of smap for a little over a year but I love to share my enthusiasm for things posted here. Obviously there are some members who know each other personally but many who dont I think we all interact well regardless. Its great that you enjoy this board and its content and trust me if you add an opinion or two about something you have seen there will be a response and you will start to feel less inhibited. I dont know you personally and I hope me saying this doesnt upset you but it sounds like you get a lot out of hearing about smap and probably have a lot of good things to say just dont be afraid to.

PS: I agree with megumi n shokurin i dont mind if i have to pay membership fee because i know all i can give to this forum only my thought n my opinion....Thank you all for pict post or download post....

Hi Shokurin, Your post really moved my heart. I felt the same way you do! I was looking at this board for over a month before I made my first post. I've only been on the board since Feb 05. I also felt out of place and being an American just kinda added to the feeling. But I think everyone here is very nice and would value your opinion. I also don't think it's a bad idea to charge a fee, like a membership. Especially for us who don't have anything to offer except our opinions. Everything I know about SMAP, I'm learning from minna. I love this board and am on it all the time. You all make me laugh and I can't wait to find out what's happening with our boys. So to P_Chan & Shin_Chan, I am deeply grateful for your hard work and to everyone else for sharing your pics and downloads with us!

Sorry last night when I posted I forgot to comment on the membership fee idea. P Chan have you considered it, is it a logistical nightmare though considering all the nationalities on this board!! I would be willing to though absolutely.

To all those who have sent me PMs the past month or so (or are planning to send) , regarding how busy you are at work/school/life hence you can't post or can't post much, stating that you can't be bothered, too busy or too tired...
