It seems that the world has so many natural calamities and tragedies lately that I wanted to extend my message of concern to the following: Our friends in the US - I know MEGUMI, MOMI and the rest of our members from the US are safe after Katrina's damage but I sincerely hope that the displaced families in Mississipi and New Orleans will soon find their place again in this world. Our friends in Japan - just last night I was listening to news in NHK and typhoon Nabi has caused a lot of flooding in Tokyo and is now moving towards Kyushu. I hope GORYMAN, P-CHAN and the rest of our friends in Japan are safe and dry. Our friends in Indonesia - after the tsunami, a big plane crash happened again in the Medan residential area. I hope YANIE and the rest of our friends in Indonesia does not have any relatives affected by this. Take care everyone and be safe!!!

Thanks for the concern GIGI.  Actually the wind and rain is BAD here where I live but hopefully not dangerous.  Im in West Japan which is supposed to be affected by this evening so Im chotto nervous.  I tried to get my hubby to stay home today but because he works at a TV station he has to FILM the typhoon which scares the crap out of me but hes experienced lots of them having grown up here so he isnt panicked.

Katrina continues to shock and sadden me, yesterday I saw dogs stranded and starving and being an animal lover it upset me.  Theres a lot of suffering and like you I immediately thought of board members like Megumi and Momi and feel relief that they werent affected but so many people are.  They continue to be in my prayers.

Same goes for all those in Indonesia, I havent seen too much on this tragedy but hopefully no one here is affected.

I was reading about the typhoon last night and I pray that you all in Japan are safe!  Tokyo got 4" of rain in a hour or so!  That's scary!  All of those who are in Japan and Indonesia please be safe!

GORYMAN, the footages on NHK kept me glued to my TV last night.  They kept showing footages of Shikoku and Chikoku (?).  I remembered your husband since he films this kind of thing.  Please tell him to be careful!  The flood waters are so high.  Well, its actually flooding in my place so I'll be moving to a better location in the city...There were footages of JR Hakata station and it was closed.  I walked that area and it was eerie that it was not brimming with people.  Keep safe everyone!

GIGI> Thanks for the concern.  Shikoku was badly hit but where I live got off lightly (if that makes any sense!)  The winds died down by 10pm and it was fine and so thankfully was my hubby although really wet and miserable!!

TOKYO -- Japan expressed sympathy and said it was ready to offer assistance after a landslide buried an entire village in the Philippines.

"Japan is preparing for appropriate assistance," a foreign ministry statement said.

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi sent a message to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo "to express the deepest condolences," it said.

The Philippine Red Cross said about 200 people were feared killed and 1,500 people were missing when the landslide ravaged the village of Guinsaugon in the south of the Philippine island of Leyte.

Japan, Asia's biggest economy puts a priority on close relations with Southeast Asia and was a major donor after the Indian Ocean tsunami in December 2004.

Thank you so much for your concern MEGUMI.  It's another sad day for us.  I can't watch the news.  It's so heartbreaking.  But fortunately my whole family is safe.

Me too, sending my prayers to everyone out there to be safe and with their loved ones. I finally watched the news last night and was aghast. What a great contrast to people here whining about the cold weather.

Thank God you're ok Gigi & doc... Like Goryman, I really am devoid of news... Err.. real world news that is!! *innocent blink blink* I only saw this on the night it happened!! What about the other members from the Philippines?? Are you guys alright?

I just read the morning papers but honestly, I skipped the 2 pages on the mudslide... I crindge when I see the pictures & death toll...

Let us all pray that the effects of this disaster will be as conservative as it possibly can and minna & their family and loved ones are safe...

hi everyone!!! just wanna invite everyone to say a little prayer for our country, Philippines...

seems like after the landslide there are more serious problems we have to face, the political instability which is quite uncomprehensible for most of us but really it could be simpled out as saying, 'if a filipino really loves his or her country, he or she must make supreme sacrifice in order to make everything better for the rest of the filipinos'

thanks

It's really sad to hear of the horrible mudslides in the Philippines on the island of Leyte.....My thoughts and prayers go out to those who are suffering from this disaster especially losing their loved ones who have perished in the mudslides....God bless you and may he give you strength and comfort during this difficult time.
