I've not posted in this thread before because I've never heard any solid news about this project,and as Megumi said,it's suppose to be out in April. When April came and go,I thought this news must definately be a rumour.
However,I've just heard 11 Aug What's Up and Takuya kinda hinted that he's gonna start on a new drama after concert with TBS. I don't really understand what he meant, minna who do,please enlighten us.

The news is confirmed....winter drama for TBSn in January next year....and Takuya started his photographing/filiming yesterday already....

視聴率男・ＳＭＡＰの木村拓哉（３３）が１年半ぶりに連続ドラマに主演する。山崎豊子氏原作のベストセラー「華麗なる一族」をドラマ化したＴＢＳ・ＭＢＳ系ドラマに出演するもので、来年１月から放送される。キムタクは原作では主人公の万俵大介の息子・鉄平を演じるが、ドラマでは鉄平が主人公に設定されている。
山崎氏の「華麗なる一族」は７４年に出版され、これまでに１１５万部を突破。同年に映画化、連続ドラマ化された名作。関西財界の名門・万俵家を舞台に金融再編など政界・財界の黒い欲望を描く。今回のドラマでは原作同様、時代背景を７０年代に設定しているが、主人公は万俵家の息子・鉄平（木村）となっている。
「万俵鉄平というキャラクターを通じて"真のリーダーのあるべき姿"を表現したいと思いました。物作りに一生懸命で、熱くて、真っすぐで、周りの人を自然にひきつけていく魅力のある男...。あらゆる世代の人から支持され、圧倒的存在感を持つ木村さんにぜひ存分に万俵鉄平を演じていただきたい」
ＴＢＳはこう木村起用の理由を説明。木村も熱いラブコールに応え「Ｇｏｏｄ Ｌｕｃｋ！」以来４年ぶりのＴＢＳ連ドラ出演を決めた。原作の山崎氏も「木村拓哉さんの目には純粋さと悲しみがあります。そんな彼が万俵鉄平をどう演じ切るのか。はまり役となって"木村拓哉の『華麗なる一族』"と定着するようなドラマになることを期待しています」とメッセージを寄せた。
木村は既に１５日から撮影に入っており「この作品に参加させてもらえて本当に光栄です。その一言に尽きます」と熱い演技を約束。「視聴率男」の木村と「社会派」の大作を描いてきた山崎氏の強力タッグが新しい神話を生みそうだ。

GOSH! unbelievable (: can't wait for the show to come out!
from what i gather, the show's coming out in january, and is about the politics, desires etc in the investment and banking world.takuya will portray a hardworking, diligent, honest and overall a very charismatic banker (i think it's banker). besides that, the author of the book that they're basing the drama on has said that takuya is perfect for the role, able to play a pure-at-heart person. kimura started filming yesterday, and it will be thrilling to watch the 'man with highest ratings' to play such a role.
i think it should be something like this, sorry if anything is wrong :x

I just saw the news about this drama. My Japanese friend said that the author of this novel, Yamasaki Toyoko, is really famous.

YATTA!! thank you SOO MUCH for the good news! Winter is coming and I think I'll be able to get through it with the thought of a new Takuya drama awaiting. Is the rumored actress still going to be the same?
Btw, am I reading it wrong, or does the first paragraph of the article refer to "Kimutaku"?

A new Kimura dorama...and as a banker??? hahahaha...i can't wait!!!! and with his new short hair....ooohhh...he's going to be an eye-candy for sure....do we know who the other actors are??? i wonder who he'll be paired with this time...will there be any love story??? only a few months to go....i'm already counting down....

The TBS website for the drama is up though still quite raw.
Takuya's role is named Teppei in this drama again! My favourite Teppei from Love Generation!! HAHAHAHAHHAA,oh well, the kanji 万俵鉄平 (Manpyou Teppei) is different,so technically,it's not the same Teppei.
But watever it is, I'm looking forward to this drama as it's originally from a novel and later film into a movie.

Hmm... people are thinking that this new role doesn't suit Takuya... I don't know, but Takuya is a very skilled actor, and it's interesting to hear that he has a challenging role this time... TBS dramas always seem to bring out break-through performances from our boys... Shingo's "Miseinen" and Nakai's "Shiroi Kage". Remember people once thought that it was ridiculous to let Nakai star as the cold Naoe-sensei...  . I'll be waiting to watch this drama!!

It sounds like that the book that the drama is based on is really widely respected, and some people think that with Kimura starring, his popularity will wreck the drama's intent and distort focus, and become an idol dorama instead of an intruiging drama of its own right. The article mentions that the father of the family is the book's original main character, but the screenwriter turned Teppei (the eldest son) into the main character instead.
I can understand where the concern stems from but...they are underestimating Kimura as an actor!! Have they seen him in "sora kara"?
The book by the same author as the other dorama "Shiroi kyoto" - which is a really widely acclaimed dorama about medical world...been on my to-watch list for awhile, has anyone watched this?

Takuya is such a great actor, and I'm excited whenever he gets to play something different. I hope that people give him and this show a chance beyond as just an excuse to look at him. I'm very excited about this role for him, and I can't wait to see it!

His new hair cut looks very nice...especially now that I've had a bit of time to get used to it. :-) I remember hearing that one of the reasons Takuya didn't particularly care for short hair beacause that he felt that he looked to young with it. Personally once I get used to the short hair, I like it (though I love love love the long hair too)

hey guys. you have to check this out. it's more info on the new show on youtube. by the way, i finally found out how to pronounce the kanji: karenaru itijoku. i found this by accident, but it gives more info. it's less action and more drama if i'm hearing the news correctly. so it's politics in a huge family run banking business set in the 70s of japan. sounds interesting!
kimura said that this dorama was made on a much larger scale, and is a very large project. he also hopes that everybody will wait patiently for the show to come out next jan. and the actor who plays kimura's father in the show didn't want to shake kimura's hand because it was something of relief? i'm not very sure because i don't know what akushyu means sorry! but they did do a friendly fist to fist shaking, just watch! (:

木村も同局「ぴったんこカン・カンスペシャル」（１月９日放送）の収録にゲスト参加した際に「華麗ぱん」を目にし、「これぞコラボ」と話しながら１個、持ち帰ったという。
≪キムタク広告で都心制圧≫都心をジャックする広告は、東京国際フォーラム（有楽町）やＪＲ主要駅などに登場。木村のポスターの掲出地域が徐々に拡大され、どこを向いても「華麗なる一族」という現象を作り出す戦略だ。３０日からは街頭のビルボード３１カ所（計５４面）にポスターを掲出。これらすべての場所の通行人数を合わせると、１日約１１５０万人の目に木村が飛び込む計算。
