Far as I understand it....
they do not appear in the talk show.........
their "Batsu" .....is to convince a TV Station to let them
"Warm UP"....the studio audience...of a TV live show.....
usually the job of the Floor Manager...
Without any assistance from FUJI TV.....to make the necessary arrangements
That means that they have to use their "charms"..and "wits"...
to communicate..their request and assure the TV Station that they can be entrusted with such a task............of course there will be a camera crew there to film their adventures.........in international dialogue....
To add..: our own Irene Ang aka Mrs Phua Chu Kang....used to do that professionally..........in Singapore.

Which to add on...
from what i understand, the job of a floor manager is an extremely difficult one...(help out in some stage thingy in college, tho me aint no floor manager)warming up the audience basically is to make the audience feel at ease, to loosen up, comfortable, for them to feel involved with whats going on and maybe for them to participate in the upcoming program when it is required...
its esp harder when the program that is going to proceed later, is of a humurous nature, maybe stand up comedy,and sometimes as hard as u try and the audience still remain emotionless... not reacting...*horror*
if it is of a talkshow nature, to get the audience to be interested... and the list goes on... game show, stage drama etc...
wonder what kinda program will shingo+goro do...
thats to say in the local context... smap never have to do it themselves during smasma, it has the fuji peeps in charge will handle that...
and now goro+shingo have to do it by themselves and whatmore in US! imagine warming up for wheel of fortune or celebrity squares or the late nite show with david letterman... ahhh i wanna be part of the audience!!!!

Constructive Suggestion:
Tho these are based on alot of assumptions for example:
I do not know the IQ level of the average American Studio Audience..going to that particular show........even of which genre!!
Goro and Shingo.....should do something they are good at...
They are not particularly good at stand up comedy....expecially in English.....they are dead ducks....
So best to be themselves.........
Shingo can do a "Shingo Mama goes to America on grand Adventure .....
and gets lost...."
tat should appeal to alot of people for sympathy...
can trust Shingo to work on that.....
He do not have to speak much English being Shingo Mama..... just a smattering to get by.....
I mean "She" is a Japanese tourist lost in America!!!
that will "sell"......
Goro ...wa?.................
Can he be "PaPa Goro" as in Shingo Mama...and there can be Papa Goro....
Image?....these are some option.....:
.....a browbeaten by the very bossy Shingo Mama....
and dragged across Amercia.......?
Shingo Mama.....dragged him into the studio.....insisting that it is the Muesuem.........
OR......
A extremely curious PaPa Goro......simply somebody who forgets who he is when he is intersted in something.....and wonders away.....
Making him a handful for Shingo Mama to manage........
that is how they end up in the studio...........
Papa wondered into there.........
with a very harried Shingo Mama in tow......huffing and puffing after him.....
They should be able to take it from there.........
hamming up the quaint Papa Mama relationship.....
in broken English......
...............or Goro can be Goromi..........
that'll be tough on him............
but he just might do it........
Imagine.....2 flighty girl .....hamming it up.....
should be a scream...
Desho?
If Shingo actually take up tis idea.....
I'd demand a kiss from Tsuyopon....as a reward....

why.........I am Mitsuru..........and not.....etc..
and the fact that I not gonna be any where NEAR Tsuyopon.....
as I am not gonna be visiting Japan......... particularly......
and he is not gonna be in Singapore..............particularly....
the chances of tat happening is as good as a Snowball's chance in Hell....

have any of you ever heard goro speak in english before? not singing songs... i've heard him sing quite a handful of songs in english before... but what about conversations? i haven't actually heard him hold a conversation in english before.
even shingo's smastation doesn't really count. if you guys have watched smastation, you'll know that he hardly speaks a word of english throughout the show, except for the bera-bera station segment. and even so, whatever japanese sentences that he has to translate into english have all been memorised. there were times he depended more on memory than on understanding to give the english translations.
so i really wonder how they would go about doing this forfeit....
i really think, that they cannot depend on language to get them through.... they really have to do something that is based more on body language or something like that, maybe something funny, to get the audience to warm up to them.
but well, i'm quite sure the producers of sxs knows it's a total uphill task. if they were made to run 42km marathons before, i'm sure this is just as difficult. maybe not physically, but mentally.

So, the summer live SxS will be on Aug. 19(?), 2002. If it goes according to the typical SxS ?radition? then the batsu game for Shingo and Goro should be showing on that day. Does that mean they have already been to the States and finished the batsu game? Wonder where exactly did they go?

EEKS!!!!! OH DAMMIT!!! you know of all rotten luck, shin-chan and i will be returning from japan on august 12, so we're missing the concert in hiroshima on the 17, and the live sxs on the 19!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
i really wonder how the batsu turned out!!!! shingo would have to speak english non-stop!!! and goro-chan... i've hardly heard him speak much english!!! so exciting!!!

Hmmm.... Looks like they didn't show the batsu game penalty! That's strange. Maybe Shingo and Goro were too busy. Wonder when will it be. *SIGH*
Anyone any news and updates on this one? When will it be shown? Have they filmed it yet (& when was/will be the filming)?
SMAP really teaches you how to be patient don't they!! Hehehe...

Hi Paige, you are right.  The batsu game will air on 9/23. 
9/23 is the Fall special... It will be a 2 hour SxS.
I read somewhere that during an recent interview,
Shingo said that he went to US recently for a “program” and it was a good experience for him.
So that probably meant they have already went and completed the batsu.

Ah minna san...I'm getting a little anxious too about the Shingo and Goro batsu game...when are they going to air it...I'm pretty sure they've done it...like Miyuki said, she read somewhere that Shingo went to the States...so they must have taped it...just wondering why it's taking so long for them to air it...hopefully it'll be in the next couple of weeks...can't wait to see it ne...

That's why there is no SxS recording today and tomorrow at TMC.

Do you know which show on NBC?? It wasn't Connan O'Brian was it?? He's my fave and we get him here in Poland.
It would be fabulous if they showed it here. It's been soooo long since I've seen any SMAP on tv. sigh. Why did I chose this country?
